This article shows how to
apply standard scatter to a model railway baseboard. It
is a simple and effective method. If you feel you can add

Firstly, clear the area which you wish to
apply scatter to of any obstructions or
existing scatter.
Then, paint the area, a similar colour to
the colour that the scatter you are going to
apply. Make sure the paint is thick, even,
and covers the whole area.
You must then quickly complete this step, so
that the paint does not dry. Mix together
different colours of scatter and then pour
the scatter you wish to use into a fine
sieve. These can be easily acquired at local
supermarkets. Then shake the sieve so that
the scatter filters through evenly. Cover
the entire area. Do not worry about going
over the edges.
This should be the final result. Leave this
to dry so that the scatter sticks. The
length of time will depend on how thick the
paint was applied.
When the paint and scatter have dried,
vacuum away all of the loose scatter.
When this has been done, add scenery,
buildings, and people on top of the scatter
as necessary.
